Electrical

Lots of people wait weeks for an electrician for a twenty minute job. Peter does the small work: lights, sockets, switches, smoke alarms. A new circuit in the fuse box he leaves to a registered electrician, and he knows a few good ones.

What Peter does

Hanging ceiling lights, concrete ceilings included. Moving a socket or turning a single into a double, an outside light by the front door, replacing a dimmer that has hummed ever since you switched to LED bulbs. A smoke alarm takes him fifteen minutes each.

Some old houses in Delft still have wiring without an earth. If Peter comes across it, he tells you and takes photos, so you know where you stand.

What he doesn’t do

Replacing or extending the fuse box, connecting a car charger, solar panels. That’s work for a registered electrician with the right paperwork. Peter is happy to give you a name.

Questions about electrical

Is a handyman allowed to do electrical work?

Small changes to the existing installation, yes, and Peter follows the NEN 1010 standard when he does them. Work in the fuse box he leaves to a registered electrician.

I’ve already bought the light. Can Peter hang it?

Yes, that’s actually handy. Do check that all the parts are in the box. Otherwise one missing connector means an extra trip to the DIY store.
